AUM is a private non-profit university

The American University of Myanmar (“AUM”) is a private non-profit  university incorporated in the United States. It is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of prominent American and Myanmar men and women who volunteer their time for the benefit of the institution and Myanmar. It has high quality and experienced faculty, 99% of whom hold doctorates or terminal master’s degrees (professional degrees recognized as the highest qualifications needed to teach in those fields (e.g., MFA, LLM, ChM, MEng, MBA, MLS, etc.)). Its faculty have moderate teaching loads, undertake original research, publish and serve the communities of Myanmar. AUM has a library collection in excess of 55,000 volumes to facilitate research. It uses one-third of its tuition revenue to award scholarships to Myanmar students who cannot otherwise afford to attend the university, takes a wholistic approach to the education of students and is deeply involved in helping its graduates realize their dreams.
